Hands up who wants to lose weight? I know that 2/3ds of us are overweight and the vast majority don’t want to stay that way.

And how many have been trying to lose weight for years? Chances are, pretty much all of us…. because women’s lives are often a cycle of constant dieting.

So why aren’t we winning?

The truth is, the dieting concept is flawed – it just doesn’t work for the vast majority of women. Not long-term, anyway. It fights our body and makes losing weight less and less likely the more times we diet. And it leaves us confused about what normal eating actually is. Low fat, low carb, fasting or not? Who knows?!

The media does nothing to help. Everyday there’s a new piece of advice – usually conflicting with the advice of the day before.

And then we end up demoralised and exhausted, unable to face yet another attempt to lose weight. We give up, and stop believing that we can ever get back to the woman we once were, or always wanted to be.

And then, of course, there is always something more important to do than tackle our weight. Or someone who needs our time more than ourselves.
